Window well replacement in Maryland
Old half-moon wells are often too small to climb out of, and many have rusted through or pulled away from the foundation. A new well fixes the look, the drainage and the escape route at the same time.
What we install
- Galvanized steel window wells, sized for egress
- Composite and decorative stone-look wells
- Terraced or tiered wells for deep basements
- Permanent ladders and steps for wells deeper than 44 in
- Clear window well covers and grates that open from inside
- Gravel bases and drain tie-ins so wells don't flood
If the window is big enough but the well isn't, the opening still doesn't count. Code looks at both.

Questions
Window well questions
Can you replace just the window well?
Yes. If your window already meets egress size, we can swap a rusted, cracked or undersized well for a new one without touching the window.
What size window well does an egress window need?
The well must give at least 9 sq ft of floor area and project at least 36 in from the wall, and the window has to open fully inside it. Wells deeper than 44 in need a permanent ladder or steps.
Will a window well cover block the exit?
Not when it's an egress-rated cover. Covers must open from inside without tools or special force, so the well stays a way out.
Why does my window well fill with water?
Usually because the well has no drain, or its drain is clogged. We set a gravel base and tie the well into your drain tile or a dry well.
